Viral news on social media – Did RBI issue coin in Dhoni’s name?
A news is becoming increasingly viral on social media, in which it is being claimed that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is going to issue a new coin of Rs 7 in the honor of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Referring to RBI, the viral post said:
“RBI is going to issue a new coin of Rs 7 in honor of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Thala is shining once again.”
A picture related to this claim is also being shared on social media, seeing which people are accepting it as true.
But is such a coin really going to be released, or is it just a rumour?

PIB (Press Information Bureau) investigated this viral claim and declared it completely fake.
PIB Fact Check team tweeted:
“This picture going viral on social media claims that a new coin of Rs 7 will be issued in honor of Mahendra Singh Dhoni for his contribution to Indian cricket. This claim is completely false.”
PIB clearly said:
“The Department of Economic Affairs has not made any such announcement.”
“No such official statement has come from RBI either.”
That means this news is completely fake and has been spread only to spread confusion on social media.
