Team India batting star Virat Kohli hugged Ravindra Jadeja after the latter finished his bowling spell in Champions Trophy 2025 final against New Zealand on Sunday in Dubai. The picture of the same surfaced on social media as netizens speculated Jadeja’s retirement from ODIs after the contest at the Dubai International Stadium.

The Saurashtra all-rounder bowled a tidy spell against the Kiwis, registering figures of 10-0-30-1, getting the better of Tom Latham for 14 off 30 balls, trapping him lbw. The southpaw has already retired from T20Is but speculations of Kohli and Rohit Sharma retiring from ODIs have also been swirling around. Jadeja made his debut in 2009 and has so far played 204 ODIs. He also played a crucial role in the Men in Blue’s 2013 Champions Trophy win, finishing as the highest wicket-taker.

Below are some of the reactions by the netizens:

“This is a gettable score” – Varun Chakravarthy after India restrict New Zealand to 251

Wrist-spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who took two vital wickets, explained his approach in the first innings, claiming that all he did was keeping it simple and wait for the batters to make mistakes. The 33-year-old told the host broadcaster:

“It was a good wicket compared to the last one. It was not turning much. I was just trying to stick it in the wicket and wait for the batter to make a mistake. I like bowling in the death and powerplay. It is challenging and gives me more opportunity to get a wicket. I like talking to Kuldeep. I am pretty new to the setup and looking to build more bonds. The foot is a little sore, need more painkillers. This is a gettable score.”

Daryl Mitchell and Michael Bracewell scored half-centuries.
