True to his reputation as the tote favourite, Irish Gold delighted punters by claiming victory in the prestigious Mathradas Goculdas Trophy, the main event on the 10th day of the Mumbai racing season at the iconic Mahalaxmi Racecourse on Thursday.
Representing the formidable stable of trainer Dallas Todywalla, Irish Gold showcased a stellar performance. Initially trailing the leader Portofino, the chestnut colt displayed remarkable speed and determination in the final stages of the race. With just 100 meters left to the winning post in this thrilling three-horse contest, Irish Gold surged ahead, leaving his stablemate Portofino behind to secure a well-deserved win.
Baby Bazooka, who had previously clinched the Madras Race Club Trophy, failed to make an impact this time around. Despite high expectations, the filly could not match the pace and power of Irish Gold, who proved why he is considered one of the top contenders this season.
The race was a testament to Irish Gold’s consistency and ability to deliver under pressure, further solidifying his status as a standout performer.
