Ireland: Ireland’s Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation, and Science, James Lawless, will be undertaking a visit to India between March 15 and March 22, 2025. The visit is part of Ireland’s global engagement, timed with the national holiday of St. Patrick’s Day 2025.
As part of the visit, Minister Lawless will pay particular attention to promoting cooperation among Ireland’s and India’s education and research sectors. The mission will engage with India’s premier institutions to foster faculty exchange programs, student mobility, and cooperative curriculum development. They will also exchange views on building new Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and intensifying bilateral collaboration in higher education.
“Ireland and India share a dynamic and evolving partnership that has flourished for over 75 years, built on a strong foundation of education, research, innovation, and strong people-to-people cultural ties,” stressed Kevin Kelly, the Irish ambassador to India.
Deeper cooperation across important areas like technology, life sciences, and sustainable development is being fuelled by the rising synergies between our countries as India solidifies its place as the fifth-largest economy in the world and one of the fastest-growing international markets.
“Ireland’s dynamic and innovation-driven economy, reinforced by global industry leaders and a pro-business government, is quickly becoming the preferred gateway for Indian companies expanding into Europe,” stated Tanaz Buhariwalla, Director – India & South Asia, IDA Ireland.
The key purpose of this visit is to seek out new trade, investment, and knowledge-sharing opportunities between India and Ireland. Minister Lawless and his delegation will meet with Indian officials, business leaders, and academia to pursue this aim.
Ireland and India have a rich association, one that has continued for more than 75 years on the firm pillars of education, research, innovation, and culture. It is anticipated that this association is set to grow stronger, especially in fields such as technology, life sciences, and sustainable development, as India continues to position itself as the world’s fifth-largest economy.
