The website and app of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) remained down since the morning of December 26, due to which passengers faced problems in ticket booking and login. However, now IRCTC services have been restored, and passengers can do ticket booking and cancellation.

IRCTC told maintenance as the reason

IRCTC issued a message on its website saying:

“Due to maintenance activities the e-ticketing service is temporarily not available. Please try later.”

Along with this message, IRCTC also released customer care numbers and email IDs for ticket cancellation and filing of TDR:

According to Downdetector, the problem on the IRCTC website started at 9:47 pm.

  • By morning thousands of users complained about the website and app being down.
  • IRCTC cited maintenance activities as the reason for this problem.

IRCTC website crashed for the second time this month

IRCTC website has crashed for the second time this December:

  1. For the first time:
    • On December 9, 2024, around 10 am, the IRCTC website and app came to a standstill.
  2. Second time:
    • The same problem surfaced again in the morning of 26 December 2024.

User reaction on social media

Passengers expressed their displeasure on social media over the downfall of IRCTC’s website and app.

  • Many users said that they are facing problems in booking Tatkal tickets.
  • Some raised questions as to why the morning time was chosen for maintenance activities.

Service restored, no problem now

IRCTC has now restored its services.

  • Passengers can do ticket booking and cancellation normally.
  • The problem caused due to maintenance activities has now been completely resolved.
