The inaugural match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will be played on Saturday (March 22) at the Eden Gardens between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). But bad weather clouds are hovering over this match.

Due to the orange alert and rain and thunderstorms issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) for Kolkata and surrounding areas, the question has arisen whether the first match of the session will be or not. Due to which both pre -fixed opening match and grand opening ceremony may be interrupted.

What if KKR vs. RCB match was stopped due to rain?

Unlike the playoffs and finals, there is no reserved day for group-stage matches, including the opener. However, the game can be extended to 60 minutes from the scheduled ending time.

Each team will have to play at least five overs to get the result. The cut-off time for the five-over match is 10:56 pm (Indian time) and the match should be completed by 12:06 am (Indian time) the next day. Over -cuts will begin depending on the period of delay due to rain.

How is the drainage system in Aden’s garden?

The drainage system of Eden Gardens Stadium is best compared to other stadiums in the country. If the rain continues in the morning, a break of a few hours will be given before the toss and the outfield will be prepared. The site is capable of re -resumed to matches compared to other stadiums in India.

The captains of both teams are new.

The special thing is that this time the teams of RCB and KKR are entering the field with new captains. Ajinkya Rahane has been given the command of KKR. While RCB will be commanded in the hands of Rajat Patidar.
