IPL 2025 is about to begin, but Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson is yet to fit perfectly. Although the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy (NCA) has allowed him to bat, he is not fully prepared to play the role of wicketkeeper.

Sanju Samson fractured the right -handed index finger during the T20 series against England last month, after which he had to undergo surgery.

Batting Test pass, but waiting for wicketkeeping

According to Cricbuzz report, Sanju Samson has passed the fitness test for batting, but still he will have to pass some more medical tests for wicketkeeping.

The NCA may soon release them, but the Rajasthan Royals captain will have to give some additional keeping tests in the next few days before declaring the captain fully fit.

If Samson is not fit to play the role of wicketkeeper, he can play for the team as a batsman and captain.

Dhruv Jurael can handle wicketkeeping

If Samson is unable to do wicketkeeping in the opening matches, Rajasthan Royals have the option of Dhruv Jurlel.

Dhruv Jurlel has recently taken wicketkeeping for the Indian team and he can handle the responsibility behind the stump in Samson’s absence.

Rajasthan Royals first match on 23 March

Rajasthan Royals will play their first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 23 March in Hyderabad.

Will Sanju Samson be fully fit by then? Team management hopes that he will also be fit as a wicketkeeper till the first match, but if it does not happen, he will definitely play at least one as a batsman and captain.

Will RR look strong without Sanju Samson?

Fans remain concerned about Sanju Samson’s fitness. If he did not play as a wicketkeeper, will Rajasthan Royals face problems? Or will Dhruv Jurael be able to fulfill this responsibility well?
