Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has appointed silver Patidar as its new captain for IPL 2025. He will replace Faf du Plessi of South Africa, which was released by the team last year.

Patidar has performed brilliantly for RCB in the last few season, but now he will have a big challenge of captaincy.
The presence of an experienced player like Virat Kohli in the team may prove to be helpful for him, who has also been the former captain of RCB and Indian team.

Former cricketer Akash Chopra believes that this is the biggest career opportunity for the Patidar.

Akash Chopra – “Rajat Patidar has a chance to create history”

Rajat Patidar was retained by RCB before the IPL auction last year. He has captained Madhya Pradesh in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20) and Vijay Hazare Trophy (ODI).

Akash Chopra said on his YouTube channel:
“This is the biggest opportunity for Rajat Patidar. He has done well for Madhya Pradesh, Syed Mushtaq Ali took the finals of the Trophy to the next 4-5 years.”

But will RCB really invest so long? This question will remain.

It will not be easy to captain the shadow of Virat Kohli!

Akash Chopra further said:
“When you have a legendary player like Virat Kohli in the team, then you will look at him for 8 years.

If the Patidar plays Virat’s captaincy all the time, then the pressure will increase on him and he will not be able to make his own identity.
As captain, they have to make their own way and rely on their strategy.

Akash Chopra said:
“If silver makes his own identity and makes the team the IPL champion for the first time, he can create history!”

When and against RCB’s first match of IPL 2025?

RCB will play its first match on 22 March.
In this match, Rajat Patidar will be seen captaining RCB for the first time.
Virat Kohli will be part of the team, but the captaincy will be in the hand of Patidar.
