According to information on the IPL exchange account, the IPL Governing Council took the decision after appropriate consultation with all the major stakeholders, in which most of the franchises expressed their players’ concerns and emotions as well as the views of broadcasters, sponsors and fans. The BCCI has full confidence in the strength and preparations of its armed forces, but the board realized that it would be appropriate to work in the collective interest of all stakeholders.
The IPL has said that the BCCI stands firmly with the country at this critical turn. We express our solidarity with the Government of India, armed forces and the people of our country. The board salutes the valor, courage and selfless service of our armed forces, whose brave operation is protecting and inspirationing the nation under the operation vermilion, as they are strongly responding to the recent terrorist attacks and the unprovoked invasion by Pakistan’s armed forces. Although cricket is a national passion, there is nothing more important than the nation and its sovereignty, integrity and security of our country.
The BCCI is committed to supporting all efforts for India’s security and will always take a decision in the best interest of the country. The BCCI thanks its lead shareholder, the league official Giostar for his understanding and unwavering support. The board is also grateful to all the associate partners and stakeholders who have given their clear support to this decision and have kept the national interest above all other things.
