Punjab Kings (PBKS) new head coach Ricky Ponting is confident that his team can win the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) title.

Australia’s World Cup winning captain Ponting spoke openly on the team’s new strategy and possibilities in a conversation with Meta Creators. He said that the new team in this year’s auction is very balanced and dangerous, and the goal of PBKS will be to raise the trophy this time.

“Our entire team is working hard every minute to improve and become better. We should not take opponents lightly.”

Ponting revealed that on the very first day of the team camp, he made it clear to the players that PBKs had to be a champion team.

“The team aims to win the IPL Trophy only and only. On the first day of the training camp held in Dharamshala, I told the players that we will form the best team of Punjab Kings. It will not be overnight, we have to work hard for this.”

Ricky Ponting believes that victory is a mindset. They said,

“If we get down to win, we have to win under any circumstances. If a team wants to defeat us, it means that they want to snatch something from us. And I will not let anyone snatch anything from me or my team.”

Ponting affected by young players of PBKS

Ponting said that the team has the right balance of young and experienced players, which can prove to be the key to the success of PBKS. He said that some young players have greatly impressed him in the practice session so far.

Young players will get inspiration from experienced foreign players

Ponting reported that he wants foreign experienced players to be ideal for young Indian players. They said,

“Our young players take inspiration by looking at foreign players. If senior foreign players present wrong examples, then the young players will also have a wrong effect. So I inspire my foreign players to give the right leadership.”
