The Karwar Naval Base, which strengthened India’s maritime strength, has become more modern. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated this new advanced base today, which is a part of the project sebard. This base can become the largest naval base of the Eastern Hemisphere in the future, where 50 warships and submarines can be deployed simultaneously.

The characteristic of INS Carwar Base is not only its size, but also its strategic position. The Navy is located on the banks of the Arabian Sea, which is a very important maritime area for India. From here, the Indian Navy will be able to keep a close watch on the activities of China and Pakistan, which has become even more important, especially amidst the increasing activities of China in the Indian Ocean.

Why is INS Karwar base special?

A 3,000 -foot -tall runway has been built on this base, which can be extended up to 6,000 feet when needed. This means that not only the warship but also the aircraft will be able to fly fast from here. In future, this runway can also be used for civil aviation, which will further speed the development of this region.

A strategic eye on China and Pakistan

Over the years, China has increased its presence in the Indian Ocean. The presence of Hambantota port in Sri Lanka, Gwadar port in Pakistan and many Chinese submarines are a matter of concern for India. In such a situation, the Karwar base will emerge as an important part of India’s counter -strategy. Given the proximity of China with Pakistan and anti -India activities of both countries, this base will increase India’s monitoring and retaliation power on the west coast manifold.

Project Cabard: Now Sapna is coming true

Project Cabard was launched in 1999 after the Pokhran nuclear test, but delayed due to economic and environmental obstacles. In 2012, the government sanctioned ₹ 13,500 crore for its second phase. Now this base will not only strengthen India’s naval capabilities, but will also make India a prominent player in the Indian Ocean region. The Karwar naval base is no longer just a base, but has become a symbol of India’s maritime security, strategic thinking and regional power. Now every action of China and Pakistan will also be responded to from the Arabian Sea.

What is Project Cabard?

The largest naval infrastructure project for India, including the construction of a naval base at Karwar in Karnataka on the west coast of India. After the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War, India felt that the Indian Navy needed an additional naval base, as the Mumbai port was congesting, causing security problems for the Western fleet.

The hypothesis of this project is originally in the early 1980s Navy Chief Admiral O.S. Was done by Dawson. It was initially approved in 1985 and its foundation was laid by Rajiv Gandhi on 24 October 1986. Once it is completed, it will be the largest naval base in the eastern hemisphere. It will have a hanger for about 32 warships, 23 submarines and many aircraft.
