Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Once again demonstrating why it holds the title of India’s cleanest city, Indore swiftly returned to its spotless state just two hours after the grand gairs were taken out in the Rajwada area on the occasion of Rang Panchami.

As soon as the traditional gairs concluded, an extensive cleaning drive was launched by Indore Municipal Corporation ensuring that every street and corner was restored to its pristine condition. More than 400 sanitation workers took to the streets with an arsenal of cleaning equipment.

The drive included 15 sweeping machines, 8 JCBs, 10 jet pressure tankers and over 20 dumpers that cleared away tons of garbage.

The cleaning campaign, directed by additional commissioner Abhilash Mishra and chief health officer Dr Akhilesh Upadhyay, covered key areas like Rajwada, Jawahar Marg, Sarafa, Tori Corner, MG Road, Aada Bazaar, Khajuri Bazaar, Narsingh Bazaar, Kapda Market, Bajaj Khana Chowk, Malharganj and nearby areas and roads.

The IMC workers not only cleaned but washed the roads making them spotless. “This swift and efficient response is yet another testament to Indore’s commitment to cleanliness. The city’s proactive approach ensures that even after massive public celebrations, it remains a benchmark for urban hygiene and sanitation in India,” said mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav.

Waste removed in just 38 minutes

With nearly 5 lakh people gathering for the colorful festivities, Rajwada area was left covered in gulal, plastic bags, clothes, shoes, slippers, bottles and other waste. However, in a remarkable display of dedication, sanitation workers removed all these items from roads in just 38 minutes, a press release issued by IMC said. Residents and visitors were left in awe as the sanitation workers swiftly and efficiently removed the waste.
