Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore Traffic Police has announced a planned blackout in the city on May 7 (Wednesday) from 7:30 pm to 7:45 pm.
The announcement came after the Union Home Ministry of India instructed the entire nation to conduct mock drills in order to achieve preparedness in case of any mishap in the country after the Air India strike on Pakistan.
The following traffic arrangements will be in place on Wednesday:
Traffic arrangements will be effective from 6:30 pm on the same day.
All traffic signals across the city will be switched off during the blackout.
Vehicles on roads, including bypasses and ring roads, must stop where they are and turn off their headlights during the blackout period.
Vehicles entering Indore from all entry points such as Shipra Toll, Rau Circle, Chandan Nagar (Jawahar Tekri), Devguradia, Tejaji Nagar, Baroli Toll, and Gandhi Nagar must halt at their location and switch off headlights between 7:30 pm and 7:42 pm.
Movement of all vehicles, including trucks, buses, BRTS buses, two-wheelers, four-wheelers, e-rickshaws, and auto rickshaws, will be completely halted. All drivers must stop and turn off headlights.
Vehicles approaching the city through underpasses like Rau, Tejaji Nagar, Kanadia, Jhalaria, DPS, Golden Leaves, Manglia, Patthar Mundla, Arandia, Devguradia, Bicholi, etc., must also stop and turn off their headlights.
Food delivery services (like Swiggy, Zomato) will be completely suspended during the blackout.
Taxi services (including Ola, Rapido, Uber) must pause their operations and follow blackout instructions by stopping vehicles and switching off headlights.
Emergency vehicles such as ambulances, fire brigades, and police vehicles will be allowed to operate during the blackout.
