Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A mega rally will be taken out on Wednesday morning from Lalbagh to the collector’s office to protest against the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh for the past few months.
Most markets, mandis and roadside shops in the city will remain closed for half a day. The protest is being organised under the banner of Sarva Hindu Samaj Manch, an RSS outfit. Pankaj Panwar, convenor of outfit informed that the call has drawn overwhelming support from all Hindus and trade associations of the city.
On the call of Ahilya Chamber of Commerce, an apex body of traders’ organisation of the city, the traders have decided not to open their shops on Wednesday till 1 pm.
Traffic Diversion
Traffic management police have made arrangements for traffic diversion during the rally of Hindu organisations from Lalbagh ground on Wednesday against atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh. According to the traffic police, during the rally, people are requested to avoid the route from Mhow Naka towards Collector Office. Instead, the following routes will be more convenient-
1. Those who want to go from the Collector Office towards Mhow Naka can go via Palsikar Square – Manik Bagh or Choithram Mandi.
2. Those participating in the programme can park their vehicles at Dhobi Ghat, Dussehra Maidan and Lalbagh.
3. People coming from Sudama Nagar, Footi Kothi wanting to go towards Gangwal Bus Stand or Bada Ganpati, should take the route towards Gangwal via Chandan Nagar which will be more convenient for them.
Ahilya Chamber of Commerce president Ramesh Khandelwal said the executive body meeting was held yesterday, in which all the representatives of trader organisations have expressed their anger over the incidents happening against the Hindu community in Bangladesh, and it was decided to fully support the rally of Sarva Hindu Samaj Manch on Wednesday.
Business organisations including Sitalamata Bazaar, Khajuri Bazaar, Scooter Parts Sellers, Siyaganj Grocery Wholesale Merchant Association, Apollo Tower Sellers Association, Pipe & Sanitary, Indore Tiles Merchant, Electric Market, Indore Machinery Tools, MP Pulses and Rice Association, Indore Chemical, Indore Consumer Product, Malharganj Vyapari Association have decided to keep their shops, offices, institutions closed till 1 pm.
The Chemist Shopkeepers’ Association of the city has also supported the half-day shutdown tomorrow.
Memorandum after rally
The rally will start from Lalbagh where thousands of people from Hindu community will take part. A memorandum will be submitted at collector’s office to protest the atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh.
