Indore May Soon Be Declared Har Ghar Jal Certified District | Representational photo
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The work of providing tap water to all the rural families of the district under the Jal Jeevan Mission is nearing completion and work is underway on priority to declare it as Har Ghar Jal District soon.
Principal secretary, public health engineering department, P Narhari said in a virtual meeting on Wednesday that out of 111.77 lakh families in the state, 77.12 lakh (69%) had got tap water and work was in progress in the remaining villages. Burhanpur had the distinction of becoming the first Har Ghar Jal certified district of the country.
The officials of the public health engineering department of the district informed the meeting that the work of providing tap water to all the rural families of the district was almost complete and soon it would be declared as Har Ghar Jal certified.
Narhari reviewed the work of Jal Jeevan Mission and other departmental works through video conferencing.
Due to lack of interest in the work of Jal Jeevan Mission and very slow execution, Trilok Singh Barkade, executive engineer, public health engineering division Singrauli was suspended with immediate effect.
Show cause notices were issued to the executive engineers of the public health engineering department posted in Sagar, Jabalpur, Umaria, Datia, Satna, Vidisha, Guna, Alirajpur, Ratlam, Damoh and Mandsaur districts.
Narhari directed that all field officers should complete the works of Jal Jeevan Mission within the time limit with quality and ensure smooth functioning of the drinking water system of rural areas in the summer season. He said that strict disciplinary action would be taken against officers found negligent.
Narhari said that employees not taking interest in the work or deliberately keeping it pending should be identified and proposals for disciplinary action against them should be sent immediately.
