Bhopal/Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A man has been apprehended for allegedly raping his live-in partner on the pretext of marrying her in Indore. The victim filed a case against the accused on Monday. A team of officers took the accused into custody on Tuesday.
The woman, in her complaint, alleged that the accused promised to marry her and kept sexually abusing her for over five years. The duo were in a live-in relationship and had rented a flat together.
According to information, the accused, identified as Shyam Ahirwar, is a resident of Indore city. According to the victim, she met Ahirwar six years ago. Months later, Ahirwar asked the victim to be in a live-in relationship with him. The victim agreed, and the duo rented a flat together in the city. Ahirwar and the victim were living together for over five years. During these five years, Ahirwar kept making promises of marrying her and kept sexually abusing her.
Tired of his delays, on January 1, the victim had a conversation with the accused about their marriage. On this, Ahirwar said that he will not be able to marry her; instead, she will have to stay in a live-in relationship with him. Hearing this, the victim got furious and left the flat they were living in. The same day, she went and filed a rape case against the accused.
Police Investigation
The victim arrived at the police station and filed a case. Police took immediate cognisance of the complaint and acted on it. The police sent out a team to apprehend the accused and took him into custody. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
