Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore witnessed a remarkable cultural event where three couples from Italy, the USA and Peru embraced the rich heritage of Indian traditions to celebrate their union. The vibrant wedding festivities began on Saturday with the mehendi and haldi ceremonies, set amidst the melodic tunes of traditional music and the reverberating sounds of Vedic chants.
The day’s events set the tone for an enchanting evening of sangeet, filled with joyous performances and cultural expressions. These couples, who met while pursuing their studies in yoga at the Paramanand Institute of Yoga Science & Research, will exchange vows on Sunday at Paramanand Ashram in Ninora, Ujjain.
Staying true to the Indian ethos, the weddings will be conducted following Vedic rituals, reflecting the couples’ profound appreciation for the spiritual and cultural aspects of Indian life. Interestingly, the couples embraced Hindu names as part of their deep dive into Indian philosophy. Dario from Italy took the name Vishnu Anand and will marry Martina, now Maa Mangalanand. Ian from the USA adopted the name Acharya Ramdas Anand with Gabriela becoming Maa Samanand.
Meanwhile, Marzio from Italy became Prakashanand and is set to wed Nelmas, renamed Maa Nityanand. The head of Paramanand Yoga Centre, Dr Omanand highlighted that the couples were inspired by the spiritual depth and sanctity of Indian marriage rituals, contrasting them with the rising divorce rates in the West. After the celebrations the couples will return to Italy on January 3, enriched with yoga, spirituality and the indelible charm of Indian traditions.
