Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Showering praises on the cleanest city of the country, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday said that Indore has set an example of what India represents today – “a nation with youthful energy and rapidly growing global presence.”

“Indore is playing a key role in shaping the future of Madhya Pradesh and India. This city has become a global ambassador for Madhya Pradesh earning international praise for its vibrant culture, cuisine and innovative developments,” he said while virtually addressing the closing ceremony of two-day Indori NRI Summit 0.3 that wrapped up on Rajwada premises in the evening.

The event witnessed prominent figures from politics and the NRI community, including urban development and housing minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and a host of NRIs from all over the world.

The closing ceremony was also attended by MLA Madhu Verma, IMC chairman Munna Lal Yadav, collector Asheesh Singh, municipal commissioner Shivam Verma and others. As the closing ceremony began, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav highlighted the significant contributions of the NRI Forum.

NRI conference is a gift of Indore:

Kailash Vijayvargiya, who played a significant role in the inception of the NRI conference, shed light on the city’s remarkable progress. Recalling his time as Indore Mayor, he said, “Indore is the ‘father’ of the NRI conference in India. It was here that the first such conference was organised inspiring the Central government to follow suit.

Today, we continue to host this event with a vision of connecting the city’s NRIs back to their roots.” Mahajan spoke about the transformation of India, highlighting its youthful spirit. “India today is synonymous with youth power. When something happens globally, the first question is “What does India think about this?’” she said.

NRIs play a key role in shaping Indore’s trajectory:

Mayor Bhargav shared the city’s journey and its ongoing development. He highlighted the growth of the Non-Resident Indori Forum (NRIF), which now boasts over 1800 members from 45 countries and its continuous contributions to Indore’s development. Bhargav said that many NRIs have offered innovative technical suggestions such as improving water conservation methods in the city.

He said efforts are underway to address issues NRIs face, including streamlining land registration processes. The Mayor also mentioned that the city’s NRI community plays a vital role in shaping Indore’s trajectory and that ongoing collaboration with these global citizens is essential for the city’s continued success.
