Indore (Madhya Pradesh): After winning the ‘Swachhata Abhiyan’ title seven times in a row, Indore is not just resting on its achievements, rather it’s aiming higher.
The city now has its eyes set on becoming India’s most ‘happening city’, and the transformation is clearly visible on its streets.
Strolling through some streets of the city feels like someone has painted their hearts on them!
No longer just clean, Indore’s streets are turning vibrant and alive, with drawings on not just the walls, but also the streets.
Taking the idea of cleanliness a step further, the city has started beautifying its often-overlooked backlanes.
A shining example of this change can be seen in Shree Nagar. What was once a neglected, garbage-strewn back lane is now a clean, colourful, and an inviting space.
A place where children and elders now can play cricket, and families gather to sip ‘adrak wali chai’ in the evenings, something unimaginable just a short while ago.
‘Friends from know Indore’
This makeover is part of Indore’s larger mission to bring cleanliness, safety, and community spirit to every part of the city. The mission covers all nooks and corners and not just the main roads.
Residents say the transformation has improved their quality of life and helped strengthen community bonds.
One of the proud elderly Indorean said, “Even my friends in Dubai have heard of Indore and they have expressed the wish to visit the city.”
Indore’s efforts show that with vision, teamwork, and commitment, even the most forgotten spaces can be turned into beautiful places for everyone to enjoy.
Indore barred from competing anymore
Notably, Indore and some other traditionally high performing cities won’t be able to compete in the Swacchata Abhiyan after winning the cleanest-city tag for seven consecutive years.
Hence, Indore is now determined to breaks its own records, which is quite evident.
