Mumbai: The Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP) celebrated the fifth anniversary of indiazakat.com, which is India’s first online zakat-based crowdfunding website. The organisation celebrated the initiative’s collection of close to Rs 24 crore, which helped more than 7,500 needy families.

On Saturday, AMP celebrated five years of indiazakat.com, which was launched by the organisation on the eve of Ramadan 2020. Members of AMP and Muslim community gathered at Islam Gymkhana to celebrate the anniversary by discussing the platform’s achievements, its impact and its future plans.

The initiative has collected Rs 23.82 crores through 79,869 donations and served for 7,664 causes raised in the five years across the country. The causes include education, food, adopting an orphan, supporting small businesses and religious initiatives.

“We are immensely excited to announce that IndiaZakat.com will be completing five years of a pioneering revolutionary movement. We have set a trend that ensures all in the community look up to IndiaZakat,” said Amir Edresy, president of AMP.
