The Indian team led by Rohit Sharma has cleared their intentions for the Champions Trophy 2025 by cleaning England in the ODI series. India defeated England by 142 runs in the third and last ODI played in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
Chasing a target of 357 runs, England team was reduced to 214 runs in 34.2 overs. It was India’s second biggest win against England in ODIs. After this bang performance, the Indian team will now enter the Champions Trophy starting on February 19.
Gill’s century, Kohli-Ayyar played great innings
Shubman Gill (112 runs), Shreyas Iyer (78 runs) and Virat Kohli (52 runs) were instrumental in India’s victory.
- Gill scored the seventh ODI century and became the first Indian to score a century at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in all three formats.
- Kohli and Gill shared a 116 -run partnership for the second wicket.
- Iyer and Gill also made a strong partnership of 104 runs for the third wicket.
- KL Rahul (40 runs) missed the fifty, while Hardik Pandya (17), Sundar (14) and Akshar Patel (13) also made small but significant contributions.
- The Indian innings was all out for 357 runs in 50 overs.
India’s bowlers strong performance
The Indian bowlers did not give any chance to the England batsmen to stand.
- Akshar Patel (2 wickets for 22), Harshit Rana (2 wickets for 31 runs), Arshdeep Singh (2 wickets for 33) and Hardik Pandya (2 wickets for 38) together demolished England’s batting.
- Gus Atkinson (38) and Tom Banton (38) scored the most runs for England.
- Apart from Ben Docket (34) and Joe Root (24), no batsman could score more than 30 runs.
India’s program in Champions Trophy 2025
India is now ready to make a strong entry into the Champions Trophy from 19 February.

- February 23: India vs Pakistan
Pakistan is hosting the tournament, but India will play their matches in Dubai under the hybrid model.
