New Delhi : India is now working rapidly towards making its fighter aircraft more powerful. Some countries of the world have already made fourth and fifth generation fighter aircraft. Of these, the American F-35 has been the most discussed. Apart from this, Russia’s SU-57 and America’s F-21 are also very famous. It was believed that India can also buy one of these fighter aircraft, but now there are reports that India will pay more attention to its indigenous fighter jets than these foreign aircraft.
Delivery of foreign aircraft is delayed. India had planned to purchase 114 new fighter aircraft under the earlier Multirol Fighter Aircraft (MRFA) project. The scheme included foreign fighter aircraft such as F-35, SU-57, F-21, Gripane, Rafael, Eurofighter Typhoon and F-15EX. But this scheme has been halted for many years and is getting delayed significantly.
For this reason, India has decided that it will now improve the aircraft manufactured in its country instead of depending on foreign aircraft. The Indian Air Force has 31 fighter squadrons and requires 42.5 squadrons. Old MiG-21 aircraft are being gradually removed. Therefore, to keep the Air Force strong, India will now pay more attention to indigenous fighter aircraft.
AMCA and Tejas expected on MK2
The Government of India and the Ministry of Defense have given priority to the production of arms and fighter aircraft in the country under ‘Self -reliant India’ and ‘Make in India’. Under this, India will now focus more on its two indigenous fighter aircraft projects, with the first fifth generation AMCA fighter aircraft and the second fourth generation Tejas MK-II. The government is planning to increase the number of both these fighter aircraft to make the Indian Air Force stronger and reduce dependence on other countries.
