Indian youth killed on Jordan border: A person from Kerala has been shot dead on the Jordan border. In this regard, his family received a letter from the Indian Embassy in Amman. According to the letter, the young man along with three other people went to Jordan on a tourist visa. Security forces shot him. It is alleged that these three people were trying to cross the border illegally. The deceased was identified as Thomas Gabriel Perera. He was 47 years old and was a resident of Thumba near Thiruvananthapuram.
Edison, 43, another man present with the deceased, was also shot. However, he recovered. Edison, a native of Thumba, also reached his home in Kerala two days ago. This incident is on 10 February. Both Thomas and Edison were from the fisherman community and worked as an autorickshaw driver.
According to reports, the family of the deceased received a letter from the Indian embassy in Amman, Jordan, stating that Thomas and another person were trying to cross Jordan border illegally in Karak district. The security forces tried to stop her but did not pay attention to the warning. Security personnel opened fire on him. The bullet hit Thomas in the head and died on the spot. His body was later sent to the local hospital. After verification, arrangements will be made to take the body to India.
Tourist went to Jordan on 5 February on visa
The letter said that there will be some cost to carry the dead bodies and personal belongings, which will be sent soon. The letter has been asked to share the details of the identity card of the deceased. The families of Thomas and Edison in Kerala said that both of them were among the four people who went to Jordan on tourist visas on 5 February. A Kerala resident working in Jordan helped him.
The border of Karak province of Jordan is bordered by the deceased Sea in the west, Maan province in the east and Madaba in the north and the capital city. Jordan is divided into 12 provinces. A relative of Thomas said, “We were told that the army shot us while trying to move towards Israel.” Google Maps has shown that the nearest point between the Jordan border and the Israeli border is near the deceased Sea near Karak.
