Indore (Madhya Pradesh): “Today, there is a need to study the basic systems of India and develop its contemporary thinking. If we do not do this, we will not get the modern inventions of Sanatan. The responsibility of coordinating between Sanatan and modernity has always been on the young generation. Even today this responsibility is on the youth. The youth in India is sensitive towards Sanatan.”

These thoughts were expressed by Prafulla Ketkar, editor of Organiser magazine, in a lecture programme “Chintan Yagna”, organised by Dr Hedgewar Memorial Committee at Anand Mohan Mathur Auditorium on Saturday.

He was delivering a lecture on the topic “Youth and future of India.” He said that even in the freedom struggle, the youth had done Chintan Yagna and the result of this thinking was Independence. In the interest of India, the youth will have to come forward for coordination between Sanatan and modernity.

Whether it is Ramjanmabhoomi movement, the time of reconstruction of Ram temple, or Maha Kumbh, everyone has seen the thinking of the youth of India.

Today, the youth of India want to keep themselves connected with Sanatan. They want to be free from the mentality of slavery. For this, it is necessary that penance is done on the basis of Sanatan values. The pre-condition of Yagya is penance. Penance is always personal and Yagya is collective.

Every person in India, especially the youth, will have to decide the subject of penance. They will have to think, meditate, and do self-study while working continuously on that subject.

After penance, they will have to move towards Yagya. Ketkar said, “We will have to look at the contemporary challenges while remaining steadfast in our faith. In reality, this is Yagya.

Yagya is not only a medium of worship of God, in which sacrifices are given. Yagya is a process of collectively doing any work with sacrifice for collective benefit, for social values.”

The world is also looking at India from this perspective. If the assessment of history and self-realisation is not correct, then the future journey cannot be correct either, he added.

Retired army officer Colonel VK Saini, as the chief guest in the programme, said that the youth of India have the biggest role in building the future of India. Those working in the army only protect the country, but every citizen of India plays an important role in its construction.

If you want to build the future of the country, then whatever work you do, do it with the view of the country’s interest. There is a limit to serving the country through the army, but a citizen has no limit to serving his country. Dharmendra Choudhary, retired DIG, presided over the programme.
