Ahmedabad: India’s automobile sector has again gained momentum in global markets. In FY 2024-25, the country’s total vehicle exports crossed 53 lakh units with a strong growth of 19%. According to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), a total of 53.63 lakh (53,63,089) vehicles were exported in the last financial year, which is a significant increase in 2023-24 compared to 45 lakhs (45,00,494) units in 2023-24.

Siam said that their demand in international markets has increased rapidly due to the quality and performance of global models of vehicles manufactured in India. Not only this, many Indian companies have now started exporting vehicles to developed countries.

Export of passenger vehicles increased by 15% from 6,72,105 units in 2023-24 to 7,70,364 units in 2024-25. The share of utility vehicles also increased significantly and exported 3,62,160 units, which is 54% higher than the 2,34,720 units of the previous year.

The export of two -wheelers has increased by 21%. 41,98,403 units were exported, compared to 34,58,416 units last year. Economic stability in Africa and strong demand in Latin America supports this growth. Exports have also increased with the discovery of new models and new markets.

Commercial vehicle exports have seen a strong growth of 23%. In the last financial year, 80,986 units were exported abroad, compared to 65,818 units last year.

All areas, especially passengers and two -wheelers, have improved well on the export front.
