The Indian team has prepared a strategy to deal with the role of dew in the first T20 International match against England on Wednesday, which the team worked on on Tuesday. Keeping in mind the severe dew in winter, Team India practiced with a wet ball at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday. Indian bowlers bowled with the wet ball and the batsmen also came to practice against the wet ball in the nets. In such a situation, India can take the field with two spinners.
Dew is a permanent concern at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata at the moment, as dew makes it difficult to catch the ball. Therefore, including a third spinner in the team may prove costly. Current IPL champion Kolkata Knight Riders’ leading spinner Varun Chakraborty and team’s vice-captain Akshar Patel may get a place in the playing eleven. In this situation, Ravi Bishnoi and Washington Sundar may have to wait for their turn.
Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav said, “If we know there will be dew, we start preparing with the wet ball. You bowl with a wet ball and also field with a wet ball during practice sessions. These are things that are within your control.” In such circumstances, all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who had performed brilliantly in the recent Australia tour, may get a place in the playing eleven. His inclusion in the team will further strengthen India’s batting order.
India’s batting order has almost been decided, with Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson opening the innings. After this, Tilak Verma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh and Akshar Patel will bat. There will be Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh in the bowling, but the question is whether Nitish Reddy will play or the team will go with a proper pacer Harshit Rana.
