Delhi: Hockey India announced the 26 -member women’s team on Monday for the tour of Australia from 26 April to 4 May. In which five new players have made their debut in the senior team. India will play a total of five matches on this tour. He will face Australia A in the first two matches. After this, the women’s team will play three matches against the senior Australian team. All these five matches will be played at Perth Hockey Stadium. The tour is expected to be quite important as the team is preparing for the European phase of FIH Pro League 2024-25 in June. Five players – Jyoti Singh, Sujata Kujur, Ajmina Kujur, Pooja Yadav and Mahima Tate – have been included in the senior Indian hockey team for the first time.
The team has a mixture of experienced and new players. The team will be headed by midfielder Salima Tete, while experienced forward Navneet Kaur has been appointed as vice-captain. Veteran Savita and Yuva Bichu Devi Kharibam will take over the responsibility of goalkeeper while Jyoti Singh, Ishika Chaudhary, Sushila Chanu Pukramabam, Sujata Kujur, Suman Devi Thowdam, Jyoti, Ajmina Kujur and Sakshi Rana are included in the defense line. The responsibility of the middle order will be on captain Tate, Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke, Neha, Sharmila Devi, Manisha Chauhan, Sunilita Toppo, Mahima Tete, Pooja Yadav and Lalremasiami. Navneet Kaur, Deepika, Rutaja Dadaso Pisal, Mumtaz Khan, Baljeet Kaur, Deepika Soreng and Beauty Dungdung will handle the front line.

Bansari Solanki (goalkeeper), Anjana Duing and Lalthantuangi (Defender), Sakshi Shukla and Khaidem Shilma Chanu (Midfielder) and Monica Toppo and Sonam (forward) have been selected as standby players. Team head coach Harendra Singh said, “We have chosen a balanced team.” Which is a good mix of experienced and youth.
