Sunil Gavaskar on IPL vs Ranji Trophy imbalance: IPL is the world’s largest cricket league. In this league, the players rains money. Cricketers from 14 to 43 years play in this league and earn crores of rupees. Let us tell you that through IPL, many Indian domestic players get a chance to play and learn with international stars. The salary given to the players is in crores. This is the reason that the shine of IPL is increasing day by day. In such a situation, now Sunil Gavaskar has given a big statement about IPL and said that due to IPL, Indian cricket is suffering a lot. Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar praised the IPL in his column, but also explained the difference between this T20 tournament and players playing domestic cricket in India.

Tournament like Ranji Trophy ignored due to IPL attraction

Gavaskar believes that tournaments like Ranji Trophy are being ignored due to the dazzling of IPL, which can cause loss of Indian cricket in a long time. Let us tell you that players perform well in the IPL and play for the Indian team, but even after performing brilliantly in the Ranji Trophy, they do not get a place easily.

The opposite of Ranji Trophy performance

Gavaskar wrote in his column, ‘This IPL has once again shown that a good performance can bring an unknown player to the race for high respect. This is completely opposite to the performance of the National Championship, Ranji Trophy, where the best performing players do not come in the headlines. A good IPL season gives a player more than his entire Ranji Trophy career.

It also explained how this difference can be reduced.

Gavaskar wrote in his column, “There are many examples when the players who perform well in a single match are out of the game within one or two seasons, but a season of IPL often gives him more money than his entire Ranji Trophy career.” Although the reason for this imbalance is the appeal of the IPL among the public and consequently large -scale broadcasts and sponsorship rights, it certainly disappoints players who play almost three times more cricket matches than the IPL.

Gavaskar furthering his speech wrote, ‘This is like sprinkling salt on the wound, people who play the entire season domestic cricket, they cannot earn even the lowest base price for the unaccounted IPL player. If other organizations like Mumbai pay the payment to Ranji players by BCCI, then this imbalance can be reduced to a great extent.
