Expressing deep condolences to the people of Myanmar, Prime Minister Modi said that as a close friend and neighbor, India stands with Myanmar in this difficult time.

Deep condolences to those killed in disastrous earthquake

After a conversation with Myanmar’s General Min Aung Having, PM Modi posted a post on the social media app X. PM Modi wrote in his post, ‘I express deep condolences to those who died in a devastating earthquake. As a close friend and neighbor, India stands with solidarity with the people of Myanmar in this difficult time. Under ‘Operation Brahma’, disaster relief material, humanitarian aid, search and rescue teams are being sent to the rapidly affected areas.

India sent relief material

It is noteworthy that India has sent the first consignment of relief material after the disastrous earthquake in Myanmar. India has sent 15 tonnes of relief material to Myanmar as assistance. Relief materials have been sent to Myanmar by C-130J aircraft of the Indian Air Force from Hindon station of the Indian Air Force. This relief package includes tents, sleeping bags, blankets, prepared food, water purifiers, hygiene kits, solar lamps, generator sets and essential items such as paracetamol, antibiotics, syringes, gloves and straps.

 

More than 1000 people killed in Myanmar

In fact, on Friday, the earthquake was felt in Myanmar and its neighboring country Thailand. The earthquake destroyed multi -storey buildings, bridges and dams. The earthquake killed around 1,000 people in Myanmar and injured more than 1,700. The intensity of the earthquake on Friday afternoon was 7.7 and its center was near Mandalay, the second largest city of Myanmar. Even after this, many tremors of earthquakes were felt.
