PM Modi and Trump meeting: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with President Donald Trump during his two -day visit to America. After these meetings, it was announced that India would increase the purchase of defense hardware products including oil and gas, F-35 fighter aircraft from the US to reduce trade deficit. But Trump has made it clear that India will not be able to escape from his (America’s) mutual tariff.

Both eminent leaders discussed ways to further deepen bilateral trade relations. In which Trump has promised to send back illegally living Indians and extradite fugitive accused of 26/11 attacks, Tawwur Rana.

Will India make the tariff rational?

Trump has expressed hope that India will rationalize tariffs on American goods. He has also expressed his desire to sell F-35 stealth fighter aircraft to India, which will give widespread support in defense procurement. Due to the US President’s mutual tariff policy, India can consider reducing tariffs on US products.

Decision taken before meeting PM Modi

Even before his meeting with Prime Minister Modi, Donald Trump ordered a mutual tariff. He later told reporters, “It does not matter whether it is India or any other country, we will impose the fees they charge from us.” The same tariffs will be imposed on imported goods from India that they are collecting from us.

India has recently reduced tariffs

Even before Prime Minister Modi’s visit to America, India had announced a decrease in unfair and high tariffs. It is worth noting that India imposes 14 percent tariffs on all the items purchased from other countries, while China imposes 6.5 percent and Canada 1.8 percent tariffs. Trump said, “Prime Minister Modi has recently announced a reduction in India’s unfair charges. “America’s trade deficit with India is about 100 billion dollars, Prime Minister Modi and I have agreed that we will coordinate to remove the long -standing imbalance, which in the last four years was needed.”
