Instructions to block more than 8,000 accounts
Allen Musk’s ex -wife has said that the government has instructed her to block more than 8,000 accounts. After these orders of the government, action has been taken against the accounts sharing false posts. The government has said that if the rules issued by the government are not followed, X employees in India may face fines and imprisonment.
Government order to continue services in India
Following the government order, X has blocked more than 8,000 accounts spreading misinformation in India. After this, the X has said that the company is following orders given by the government to continue services in India. But these instructions lack transparency. The company said that in most orders it was not clarified which Indian law the material violates the law, due to which action was taken against them. In many cases, there is no legitimate reason to take action against blocked accounts.
The X has said that users whose accounts have been blocked have been provided relevant information and advised to seek legal assistance. For this, the company has also shared information with other legal aid organizations including iPobono India. The X has further stated that it is reviewing its limited legal options under Indian law, but X itself is not free to challenge these orders in court.
