India Pakistan War: When Pakistan’s army kneels in front of Bhuj’s 300 heroes

News India Live, Digital Desk: There is a glorious chapter in the history of wars between India and Pakistan which is associated with the valor of 300 women of Bhuj. It was in 1971, when Pakistan carried out a huge air strike at the Indian Air Force Station in Bhuj, Gujarat. The Pakistani army carried out more than 35 attacks in two weeks, causing Bhuj’s airstrip badly damaged.

In this serious crisis, the Indian Air Force squadron leader Vijay Kumar Karnik had a major challenge. Immediate repair of the airstrip was necessary, but due to lack of soldiers it was extremely difficult. In such a situation, 300 women of Madhapur village showed valor. These women left their homes and started fixing the airstrip all night and day.

These women, who arrived in green sarees, not only saved themselves from the eyes of Pakistan but also repaired the runway by risking their lives amidst the threat of continuous bombing. The Indian Air Force flights started again after continuous hard work for three days, and that is why the Pakistani army received a decisive reply. The incident is also called the “Indian Pearl Harbor”.

This indomitable bravery of women was also honored by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. In the year 2018, the Modi government established a memorial in memory of these heroes. A web series named “Bhuj: The Pride of India” was also made on this historical event.

A Veerangana, Kanbai Shivji Hirani, who was involved in this valor story, recently came forward after the Pahalgam terror attack and reminded the countrymen of that amazing courage. Hirani has called for strict action against Pakistan.
