News India Live, Digital Desk: India-pakistan conflict: Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has publicly confirmed in a rare confession that Indian ballistic missiles attacked Noor Khan Airbase and other strategic places in Rawalpindi during Operation Sindoor. This is completely different from its general trend of denying Indian military action in its area of Pakistan.
Addressing a ceremony called ‘Yom-e-Tshshur’ at the Pakistan memorial in Islamabad, Sharif said that he was informed by Pakistani Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir at 2.30 pm on 9-10 May at 2.30 pm. Speaking on a safe line, General Munir told him that “Hindustani ballistic missiles” had attacked major military sites including Noor Khan Airbase.
Pakistan’s airbase attacked
Sharif said during the program, “I can swear by God that the voice of the general had confidence, self-confidence and patriotism,” the video of which has gone viral on social media. He said that Pakistan’s Air Force responded using “domestic developed technology” and advanced equipment installed on Chinese fighter jets.
These attacks were part of Operation Sindoor, which was a coordinated military reaction launched on 7 May after the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April, killing 26 civilians. Indian armed forces targeted nine terrorist structures in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir. During the attacks, more than 100 terrorists associated with groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen were killed.
India destroyed Pakistan’s air defense
India then attacked Pakistan’s aerial conditions and air defense systems, when Islamabad launched a shower of drones and missiles in the border areas. India’s counter attacks damaged important Pakistani military infrastructure including radar systems, communication centers and airstrips on various airbase. Pakistani military spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary had earlier confirmed in a press briefing that Nur Khan, Murid and Rafiki Airbase were among those who were targeted by missiles and drones.
Reacting to Sharif’s statement, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya threw light on the unprecedented nature of the statement. Malaviya wrote on the social media platform X, “Understand this – the Prime Minister was awakened at midnight with the news of attacks inside Pakistan. This operation tells a lot about vermilion’s scale, accurate and courage.”
