News India Live, Digital Desk: After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Government of India took a major decision on Friday, 25 April 2025 and canceled the visas of all Pakistani citizens with immediate effect. However, the government has clarified that this decision does not include diplomatic visas, official visas and long -term visas. It is worth noting that the visa released for SAARC countries will be valid only by 26 April 2025, while the validity of medical visa will remain till 29 April. From 27 April 2025, visas of these categories will also become invalid.
Which Pakistani citizens will no longer get visas?
The Ministry of Home Affairs has clarified that 14 categories like SAARC, Business, Visa on Arrival, Film, Journalist, Transit, Medical, Conference, Mountaineering, Students, Group Tourists and Group Pilgrims for minorities will no longer be issued visas to Pakistani citizens.
If a Pakistani citizen exceeds the prescribed period in India, legal action will be taken against him under the Immigration and Foreign Act 2025.
These 4 categories for which the visa will remain valid:
The Government of India has clarified that long -term visas will be valid for Pakistani citizens of these four special categories:
- Minority communities in Pakistan: Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christian community, who desire permanent residence in India.
- Indian citizens married Pakistani womenWho are living in India.
- Indian -origin Pakistani womenThose who have married a Pakistani citizen, but are returning to India as a divorced or widow.
- Cases related to excessive compassionWhere visas have been given on human basis.
People of the first three categories will be issued a 5 -year long -term visa, while in the fourth category cases, 1 year visa will be given initially.
