India secured the deal with America: The US has given its consent to India to buy Hawki 360 technology. The deal can prove to be very important for India, at a time when there is a threat of war with Pakistan in the Indo-Pacific region. The US State Department has decided that India can use advanced satellite technology to be more vigilant in its maritime field.

Regarding this, the US State Department says, “Since this technology is being sold to India, they will now be more alert about any existing or future danger in the maritime sector.” By using this technology, they will be able to make better analysis and strategy. ‘

What is included in this deal?

The deal is estimated to be around US $ 131 million i.e. 11.07 billion rupees. This price includes a complete package including sevision software, software enhancement, training by the technical assistant field team, remote software, analytical assistance, documentation and other logical assistance, as well as program assistance. The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency said that ‘the main contractor for the deal is Hawki 360, a company based in Herndon, Virginia.’

This technique is necessary to identify ‘dark ship’

Hawki 360 is a private American company. This company has several satellites in the lower orbit of the Earth. With the help of these satellites, all radio frequencies coming from ships, planes, vehicles and coastal systems are monitored. This technique is especially useful to keep an eye on ships that have discontinued their automatic identification system, making them not recognized on the radar. Any ship in which this system can be installed, it is known as “dark ship”, as it can avoid public vision. Sea also has boundaries and there are often differences about them. This black ship can become a headache by doing any kind of work in this disputed area or any illegal work. Therefore, Hawki 360 technology can also be helpful in identifying this type of ship.

How does this system work?

The radio frequency of this dark ship is identified by Hawki 360 and then analyzed. These frequencies are analyzed by the electro-optical for “day-to-day imaging”, by infrared for “thermal signature”, and by synthetic aperture radar systems required for “radar-based image identity”. The size, speed and location of the ship are determined using all this technique.

With the help of this technique, a minor suspected pattern can also be identified. In this, factors ranging from radio frequency switching to contact with unknown signals are taken into consideration. With the help of this data, the Indian Navy will be able to make more accurate and fast decisions.

How important is Hoci 360 for India?

The deal has deepened the level of defense cooperation between India and the US. In this regard, the US government says, “Keeping in mind all aspects of US national security and foreign policy, it has been agreed to sell this technology.” Under this agreement, the strategic relations and security of the US-India has been increased as a major defense partner. This agreement will prove to be very important for political stability, peace and economic development in Indo-Pacific and South Asia.

With the help of Hawki 360, India will now be able to keep a close watch on the economic sector as well. With the help of this technology, India will be able to keep complete control over smuggling, illegal fishing, human trafficking and piracy in Indian maritime regions.

The Indian Navy currently uses P8i sea patrol aircraft and marine guards. India will now be able to continuously monitor real time through new technology purchased from America. Even in areas where ships stop radio frequencies to hide their identity.

Quad country partnership gained more importance

Quadrilateral security talks were established between India, America, Japan and Australia. The deal has also been finalized under this partnership.

Foreign ministers of these four countries met in Tokyo in July 2024. At that time, this group had said to provide necessary assistance to keep the maritime area of the Indo-Pacific Ocean more vigilant. The deal started in May 2022. From this beginning, partner countries will be able to monitor the activities in the sea and will be able to monitor any illegal activity. This will also be able to know about the damage caused to the environment.

Hawki 360 deal fulfills this objective. With the help of this technology, India will get data, but as soon as it gets the data, it will also get the power to make the decision to make it freely what action it has to take on that information.

Strong maritime security measures

In 2018, India launched an information fusion center in the country’s maritime sector. The job of this center is to collect and analyze data from the ships. With the help of Hawki 360, this center will now get very accurate data, which will enable this department to take more simple and accurate action.

This center will now be able to monitor any ship in real time. The areas known as the “dead area” – where the ship cannot be found again after entering – can also be monitored. With this, the country will now get information about any danger coming from the sea.
