Bilateral relations between India and Germany are going to get new direction and strength soon. The new government of Germany is planning to increase cooperation in many important areas including defense, considering India as an important partner in its foreign policy. The German Ambassador to India Philip Acmanman has given a clear indication in this regard.
Preparation to give new height to bilateral cooperation
Ambassador Philipk Ekmanman said that the process of formation of coalition government in Germany is almost complete and India has been mentioned many times in the priorities of the new government. He said, “Our goal is to deepen cooperation with India, especially in the defense sector.”
The process of swearing in the new government of Germany and the election of Chancellor is to be completed in the next two weeks, but before that positive expectations are being raised about strategic relations between the two countries.
Increased cooperation between armies in India-Pacific region
Talking about cooperation in the defense sector, the ambassador said that military cooperation between India and German forces is continuously increasing, especially with the Indo-Pacific region. He also said that commercial and technical partnership between the defense industries of the two countries is getting stronger.
Germany’s commitment to the submarine deal
Referring to India’s ambitious Project-75i (Project-75i) program, Ekmanman said that Germany is ready to give full support in it. Under this project, six traditional submarines are to be constructed for the Indian Navy.
He said, “India and Germany have had a thorough talk in the last few weeks and we are working seriously about this project.”
