Relations between India and Bangladesh seem to be continuously deteriorating. Relations between the two countries have become tense since the removal of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from power. Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has tightened security to stop Bangladeshi infiltrators. BSF is keeping a close watch on the border area, due to which the Mohammad Yunus government of Bangladesh is upset.
Bangladesh’s Foreign Ministry on Sunday summoned Indian High Commissioner Prannoy Verma to express concern over India’s activities on the border. On Monday, the Indian Foreign Ministry has also summoned Bangladesh’s Deputy High Commissioner Nurul Islam present in New Delhi. India has summoned a top Bangladeshi diplomat to New Delhi over the lack of cooperation from Bangladesh’s interim government on the issue of fencing the India-Bangladesh border.
To prevent Bangladeshi infiltrators from entering the border, India has started fencing the border. This has shocked Bangladesh. The meeting of the Indian High Commissioner with Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Jashim Uddin in Dhaka on these issues lasted for about 45 minutes. No official statement has been issued by the interim government of Bangladesh on this debate.
