A virgin Atlantic aircraft going from London to Mumbai had to make an emergency landing at an airport in Turkey due to a sudden sickness of a passenger, but emergency landing led to a new challenge in front of the passengers.
More than 200 Indian passengers have been stranded at the airport for the last 18 hours, where there is neither proper food nor any facility to rest. According to reports, the aircraft caused technical fault at the time of emergency landing. In addition, the airport where emergency landing was made does not have proper facilities for takeoff. In such a situation, there is a problem in sending the flight to Mumbai. A passenger said, “We have been stranded for 18 hours.” No one is able to contact anyone. In the airport where we have been stopped, we are not getting proper water and food. Children, women and the elderly are being harassed the most.
Maharashtra government came forward to help
The Maharashtra government has paid attention to this development. A passenger told on social media that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured the help of passengers. While the Indian Civil Aviation Ministry has appointed a nodal officer to handle the situation.
In December last year, more than 400 Indian passengers in Türkiye had to stay at Istanbul Airport for 18 hours. At that time IndiGo Airport also apologized. But no official statement has been received from the Virgin Atlantic on this development so far.
