On the basis of centuries by Sanju Samson and Tilak Verma, Team India defeated South Africa by 135 runs in the fourth T20 match. In this match, Tilak, who came to bat at number three in place of captain Suryakumar Yadav, created history by scoring a century in the second consecutive T20 match. His innings set India a target of 283 runs in Johannesburg, their second highest score in T20 Internationals. In the entire series, Tilak scored a lot of runs with his bat due to which he got the Player of the Series award.

Tilak created history

The special thing is that Tilak was successful in achieving this feat at the age of just 22, which is a big thing. The left-handed batsman scored an unbeaten 120 off just 47 balls, taking Team India to its highest score outside India. Tilak scored 280 runs in four matches of the series at a strong average of 140, which also included two centuries. After this, Sanju Samson was the highest run scorer in the series, he scored 216 runs with the help of two centuries.

Tilak is the fifth player to do so

By completing a century in this match, Tilak became the fifth player to score two consecutive T20 International centuries. Before him, Sanju Samson of India, Gustave McCann of France, Riley Rousseau of South Africa and Phil Salt of England have achieved this feat. The big thing is that Tilak has not been out yet in the last two innings. Samson and Tilak made an unbeaten 210-run partnership for the second wicket, which is the highest partnership for any wicket in the history of T20 International cricket.

Tilak’s average was more than 50

Tilak Verma is currently the only Indian batsman to average over 50 in T20 Internationals. On the basis of two consecutive centuries, his current average has become 51.33. Tilak also completed 500 T20 International runs for India in this match and now he has 616 runs to his name in this format.
