There has been continuous struggle between India and Pakistan on the Line of Control and the International border since 6-7 May. India started Operation Sindoor to avenge the Pahalgam attack on Pakistan. Since then the tension between the two countries has increased dramatically. In view of this, on 8 May, the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamshala had to be stopped in the middle. Then on 9 May, the BCCI announced the postponement of the tournament immediately.
Giving information about this, BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla said that the IPL has been postponed for just one week. The Indian Board clarified that any further decision regarding the competition will be taken on the basis of the central government guidelines. At such a time, the England Cricket Board has proposed to hold the remaining matches of the tournament in front of the BCCI in their country.
According to England’s ‘The Cricketer’ magazine, the England Board has proposed to the BCCI that the remaining 16 matches of IPL 2025 are likely to be held in their country. At present, there is no response in this regard from the Indian Board.
Apart from ECB, former England captain Michael Vaughan also indicated this on Friday. He posted that the remaining part of the IPL could be completed in England. Actually, this is not the first time the England Board has made such a proposal to the BCCI. Even in the beginning of 2021, when the IPL season had to be stopped due to Corona, the ECB proposed to the BCCI that they are ready to hold the remaining matches in their country.
