The England team has suffered a major setback before the Test series and Ashes series against India. Both captain Ben Stokes and fast bowler Bridan Cars can be out of the series. Both players have not yet fully recovered from their injuries.
Stokes suffered an injury to the left hamstring in December and has not played any match since then. But he is slowly recovering and preparing himself for this year’s busy schedule. England is to play the only Test match against Zimbabwe in May. After this, England have to play a five -match Test series against India in June. After this, the Ashes series will be played in Australia at the end of the year.
Durham’s coach updated
Durham’s coach Ryan Campbell said that Ben Stokes is recovering well with his hamstring surgery but there will be no risk about his return to domestic cricket. Durham has to play six county championship matches before the Test match between England and Zimbabwe on 22 May. But Campbell does not think Stokes will play in these initial matches.
According to the ICC official website, Campbell said, “I don’t think he will play the opening match of the session. If he plays it will be a bonus. He is recovering from serious injury, but is expected to be fully fit before the Test matches.”
Ryan Campbell praised Ben Stokes
Campbell also praised the dedication of Ben Stokes. He said, “Stokes work hard almost every day here. He had a hamstring surgery, but the next day he came to weightlifting, which I did not believe. He is a very hardworking player and is ready to do anything to play for England.”
Fast bowler Bridan Cars suffers from a leg injury. Due to this, he was excluded from the England team during the ICC Champions Trophy held in Pakistan and Dubai.
