The fourth and Boxing Day Test of the five-match Test series between India and Australia is being played in Melbourne. In this match, a big change has been seen in the playing eleven of Team India. Shubman Gill was out of the playing eleven for the Melbourne Test. Fans also seem quite surprised by Gill’s absence, although Gill’s performance in the series so far has not been anything special. Now the reason for Gill’s exclusion from the Boxing Day Test is also coming to light.

Gill did not get a chance

Shubman Gill has been dropped from Team India for the Boxing Day Test. Captain Rohit Sharma has included Washington Sundar in place of Gill at number three. Gill’s performance outside the house since 2020 has not been anything special. Gill’s average has been just 28.5.

Even in this series his performance was nothing special. Gill could not play the Perth Test. After this he returned in the Adelaide Test, in which Gill scored 31 runs in the first innings and 28 runs in the second innings. Apart from this, only 1 run came from Gaba’s bat in one innings of the test. Now Team India has left out Gill and entered the Melbourne Test with 2 spin bowling all-rounders.

Nitish Reddy will continue playing

Before the match, there were reports that Nitish Kumar Reddy could be kept out of the Boxing Day Test. Because Team India wanted to field with two spin bowlers, Nitish has been kept in the team for the Melbourne Test. Nitish’s performance so far in this series has also been very good.
