In the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar series, Kangaroo veteran batsman Steve Smith has created history by scoring the 34th century of his career against India. With his 34th century in the 114th Test of his career, Smith became the fastest batsman to score 34 centuries in Test cricket. He completed the 34th century of his Test career in 167 balls.

 

Smith overtook Root

Smith has now become the player to score the most Test centuries against Team India, leaving behind Joe Root. Smith scored his 11th Test century against India in just 43rd innings. English batsman Root played 55 innings for 10 centuries. Sir Garfield Sobers, Sir Vivian Richards and Ricky Ponting are joint third with eight centuries each.
