IND vs AUS: Yashasvi Jaiswal’s consistently brilliant batting performance was seen on the Australia tour where he was successful in scoring 84 runs in the second innings of the Melbourne Test match. With this, Jaiswal has become the first player to achieve this feat at MCG after 36 years.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s batting has been excellent so far on the Australia tour and he has scored more than fifty runs in both the innings at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Set a target of 340 runs to win on the fifth day of the Boxing Day Test, Jaiswal continued batting for a long time and played a brilliant inning of 84 runs, during which he scored a total of 208 runs. On the basis of his innings, Jaiswal managed to achieve a feat, which was achieved by any opposition batsman after 36 years on the MCG ground.
Jaiswal became the second player after Martin Crowe to do so at MCG in 36 years.
Facing the Australian bowlers at the Melbourne Cricket Ground has not been an easy task for the batsmen of any opposition team, the pitch of this stadium has both bounce and pace, due to which the batsmen have to show a lot of patience to score runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal became the first player since 1987 to score more than 75 runs in both innings as an opposition batsman in a Test match played at the MCG. In the Test match played on the same ground 36 years ago, Martin Crowe had played innings of 82 and 79 runs against Australia. Yashasvi scored 82 runs in the first innings of this match, while in the second innings he scored 84 runs.
