Military cooperation between China and Pakistan is constantly deepening. Recently, China has handed over another Hangor-Class submarine to Pakistan, which is part of the $ 5 billion project of eight submarines. The deal is not only limited to the Navy, but China is also supplying modern warships, drones and fighter aircraft to Pakistan. This alliance is becoming a new challenge for India.
How dangerous is this alliance for India?
The growing military partnership of China and Pakistan can become a serious strategic threat to India. Pakistan, which once depended on the US for military needs, is now completely running on China.
If you look at the numbers:
-
Between 2019-2023, 81% of Pakistan’s total imported weapons came from China.
-
This figure is 7% higher than in 2014-2018, when it was 74%.
This strategy of China is not only to give strength to Pakistan, but is also an attempt to influence power balance in the whole of South Asia.
Does China value strategic interests more than the safety of its citizens?
China is giving arms and financial assistance to Pakistan, but the security of its citizens in Pakistan is in danger.
Look at recent attacks:
-
November 2018 – Attack on Chinese Consulate in Karachi, 4 people killed.
-
July 2021 – Suicide attack in Dasu, 9 Chinese engineers killed.
-
April 2022 – Suicide attack in Karachi University, 3 Chinese teachers killed.
-
March 2023 – Attack on Dasu Hydropower Project, 5 Chinese Engineers were killed.
-
March 2025 – Attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 5 Chinese citizens die.
Despite so many attacks, China did not weaken friendship with Pakistan. This raises the question – does China care for the safety of its citizens, or is it just looking at its strategic and economic interests?
Why Pakistan has become completely dependent on China?
The relationship between America and Pakistan did not remain the same.
-
In 2018, Donald Trump called Pakistan a “false and fraud” on the issue of terrorism.
-
Currently, an attempt is being made to normalize the relationship between the US-Pakistan, but due to the growing proximity of India and the US, it is looking difficult.
-
The US has also imposed restrictions on Pakistan’s ballistic missile program, making China the main military supplier of Pakistan.
Plan to buy fighter jet from China and Pakistan’s economic status
Pakistan has planned to buy 40 J-35A Stealth Fighter Jet from China, which will strengthen its Air Force.
But the question arises – can Pakistan fulfill this expensive deal?
-
Pakistan’s economy is already in serious crisis.
-
Is running a loan from IMF.
-
This military deal may increase heavy financial burden on Pakistan.
Preparation of India: Are we ready for the match?
India is not unaware of this growing military alliance and is strengthening its security.
-
Rafale Jet: 36 Rafale Jets have been purchased from France, which are far more advanced than Pakistan.
-
US-India Defense Cooperation: Both countries are jointly developing state-of-the-art fighter jet engines.
-
Defense deal with Israel and Russia: India has taken S-400 missile defense system from Russia and bought state-of-the-art drones from Israel.
