Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A survey operation was launched by the Income Tax Department on Thursday at Alankar Jewelers in New Market and the office of Golden City Builders in Chunabhatti, Bhopal. Tax evasion amounting to crores of rupees is suspected at both establishments.

At Alankar Jewelers, records related to the sale of gold jewelry are being scrutinized. It has been alleged that bogus bills were issued and actual sales figures were suppressed to evade taxes. The survey team, which arrived in the afternoon, is currently examining transaction records and invoices to determine the extent of tax evasion.

Simultaneously, a raid was conducted at the office of Golden City Builders, owned by Manish Jain. Tax payments on land and property sales are suspected to have been avoided, along with engagement in cash transactions. Reports indicate that Jain has close ties with a former Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh, leading to further scrutiny.

Additionally, a ₹15 crore tax evasion was discovered at the premises of businessman Saurabh Agarwal, owner of Alpha Communication and Alpha Solutions. A four-day survey had been conducted before Holi, revealing the evasion. However, the evaded tax amount has not yet been surrendered by Agarwal. Further action is expected to be taken by officials after statements from other individuals involved are recorded.
