NASA and many other space research organisations with topmost scientists have been exploring space for decades. Here are six things NASA wants you to know about space.
Space discoveries
NASA has made many discoveries about space, including the age of the universe, the existence of dark matter, and the death spiral of stars consumed by black holes.
Space hazards
NASA has identified five hazards that astronauts will face on a mission to Mars, including space radiation, isolation, distance from Earth, gravity, and closed or hostile environments.
3D printing in space
NASA is developing more advanced 3D printers that can add metals and other materials to objects made in space. This could be useful in emergencies.
The North Star’s position will change
The Earth’s axis undergoes a motion called “precession” which causes the North Star’s position to shift over time. In about 13,000 years, the star Vega will become the new North Star.
Dwarf planets
Dwarf planets like Pluto are objects that orbit the Sun, are nearly round, but have not been able to clear their orbit of debris.
Talking about dwarf planets, Pluto is said to be disappearing by 2030.
