New Delhi: Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) loans in the loan portfolio increased by 17.8 percent to Rs 100 crore by March 2024 as compared to the same period last year. It reached 64.1 lakh crores.

The report showed a significant increase in the loan given to self -employment persons, which increased by 28.9 percent to Rs 2,00,000 crore. It has increased to Rs 35.7 lakh crore, while the loans given to MSME institutions have increased by 6.6 percent.

A total of 27.4 million MSME loans were sanctioned during FY 2024, whose amount was Rs. 54.2 lakh crores Which shows an increase of 19.3 percent in quantity and 5.4 percent in the price. Statistics show that the underlying price for MSME increased by year-on-year to 3.1 percent, while the quantity increased by 18.9 percent.

During the same period, the individual MSME has registered a year-on-year increase of 12.6 percent in the original price and 19.4 percent in quantity.

Improvement in portfolio quality of individual MSME is also mentioned. The risky portfolio (PAR) for 31-90 days declined from 3 percent in March 2088 to 29.7 percent by March 2024.

However, the MSME unit segment saw a decline in portfolio quality, with the PAR to 31.90 to 2.5 percent, and the PAR 91–180 increased to 1.1 percent slightly to 1.1 percent, which was 2.1 percent and 1 percent in March 2023.

In addition to MSME loans, there has also been a significant increase in microfinance loan portfolio during FY 24, which increased by 26.8% to Rs. It has increased to 4.4 lakh crores. The original quantity increased by 6 percent, a total of 83.5 million loans were approved, which was Rs. 3.8 lakh crores, which shows an increase of 19 percent.
