Mumbai – Three months ago, a worrying situation arose in Buldhana district when the villagers started falling. This problem has not been solved yet and the number of people complaining about the problem of nail break and fall has increased from about 30 to 46. People’s hair has started falling again in some village.
The Health Department has noticed this problem and has sent various medical teams to villages for survey. Official sources said that more and more cases are coming to light during the survey.
A health officer said that the amount of selenium in the soil of rural areas of Buldhana district is high and the amount of zinc is low, due to which people are having hair and nails are breaking.
During the survey conducted in five villages of Shagaon taluka in Buldhana district, there were complaints about growing inwards of nails of 14 patients in Bondgaon, 13 in Kalwar, 10 in Khatora, 7 in Machindrakhed and two patients in Dhoi village. Patients are being tested, treated and given medicines. The health officer said that there is nothing to panic.
No official report of hair loss has been received.
Three months ago, the problem of hair loss of people had arisen in a village in Buldhana district. At that time it was concluded that wheat coming from Punjab and sold in ration shops is causing hair loss due to high amounts of selenium. However, a team from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) visited these villages and collected hair samples. Local people say that even after three months, no official report has been submitted so far.
