Pakistan’s World Cup-winning captain Imran Khan had etched his name into the history books by winning the first 50-over crown for the nation back in 1992. As a result, the Imran Khan enclosure came into being at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. With the current political situation in the country, there have been rumours that it has been removed and the PCB has clarified the situation.
The board has strongly rejected any notion of having removed the Imran Khan enclosure despite the former Prime Minister getting sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment over a corruption case. The case for which Imran has been sentenced to imprisonment involves he and his wife being accused of receiving a parcel of land as bribe from a real estate businessman via the Al-Qadir Trust established when he held the office.
A PCB official dismissed those claims and said the below, as quoted by CricketPakistan.pk:
“No names have been changed or removed on enclosures.”
The venue underwent some changes ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025.
